ISTANBUL:According to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Russia and Ukraine have agreed to swap 200 captives in one of the largest swaps of the seven-month war.
Erdogan made the declaration last week on the sidelines of a regional summit in Uzbekistan with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Erdogan did not disclose full specifics regarding the swap, referring to the people being exchanged as "hostages" and declining to clarify how many were on each side.
"After the sides reach an agreement, 200 hostages will be exchanged.
I believe a huge step forward will be taken "Erdogan told PBS late Monday night.
