On Tuesday, International Monetary Fund (IMF) representative Esther Perez Ruiz met with Punjab Finance Minister Sardar Mohsin Leghari.
During a meeting with IMF official Esther Perez Ruiz, the minister stated that rains were more than 85 percent more this year than in previous years during the monsoon season, resulting in heavy flash floods and negatively impacting the two districts of Punjab - DG Khan and Rajanpur.
On this occasion, the Relief Commissioner of Punjab, the Finance Secretary, and other relevant offices were also present.
Esther Ruiz, an IMF representative, expressed sadness for the large-scale destruction caused by the flood and promised a review of programmes and complete cooperation.
According to the minister, this year's flood in the province was unexpected and unlike previous floods, since the province saw flash floods caused by heavy rainfall rather than floods caused by rising water levels.According to the minister, huge destruction has happened in Rajanpur.
366 villages and 80 union councils were devastated in DG Khan District, while 176 villages and 44 union councils were affected in Rajanpur.
In total, 191 people were killed and 3,858 were injured.
